The shopping centre is conveniently located just two kilometres from our guest house. One of Cape Town's most popular tourist sites, the V&A Waterfront is also a shopper’s delight, only a fifteen minute drive away from our guest house.
Just 10 minutes walk from the guest house, The Dean Street Arcade is a small neighbourhood shopping centre with a grocery store, and a number of restaurants and cafés. It's perfect for a relaxed coffee break, or to pick up some provisions before you head out for a day trip to Hout Bay, Southern Peninsula or Winelands.

There are a wide variety of restaurants in the Newlands area, either within walking distance or a short drive away from Newlands Guest House.
One of the local favourites is the iconic Foresters Arms, also known as "Forries", which offers meals to suit all ages and tastes. Visitors can enjoy a meal and drinks outside in the garden during the summer months or in the cosy pub during winter.

The V&A Waterfront has a range of activities and tours on offer, from cruises in the harbour at sunset and museum tours, to interactive tours at the Springbok Experience museum and the big Cape Wheel. Kids will love the Hamley's train, which runs daily from the station outside the Cape Wheel to the Watershed, while adults might enjoy a show at the Cape Town Comedy Club. The University of Cape Town is consistently placed among the best universities in the world, and the highest-ranked university in Africa making it an attractive destination for lecturers, students and academic researchers. With UCT's campus a mere ten minute walk or quick drive away, the University of Cape Town is easily accessible from our guest house. Be it UCT's open day, moving in to new accommodation for first year, or attending a lecturing conference our guest house is perfectly situated for those travelling to Cape Town for the University.
Day Trips
There are a number of popular travel sights all within close proximity to Newlands Guest House such as the #BeerExperience at the Newlands Brewery and personally guided tours of the Newlands Rugby and Cricket Stadiums which are around the corner from our guest house.
We are able to organise personalised tours to local destinations such Camps Bay, Chapmans Peak Drive, Cape of Good Hope, Simons Town, Groot Constantia, Table Mountain, the Cape Winelands, Boulders Beach and Cape Point. Tours for popular tourist sites in and around the Cape Town City Centre can also be arranged. For those wishing to travel further afield, tours to the Garden Route, West Coast and an overnight safari with game viewing can also be arranged. Whale viewing in Hermanus is always popular between August and November, and we will be able to assist you with booking accommodation there as it is a must-see!

Consider a day of wine-tasting in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley, or take the kids to see the penguin colony near Simon's Town. Between July and September, the West Coast landscape is transformed by the annual flowers, and a trip to the area is well worth a visit.
